Pandemic hobbies... finding new things to do!

"I've been trying to learn more Turkish but I am kind of lazy and irregular with studying (nothing new there!). I've started cooking a lot more and baking bread. I love baking bread. When I was working full time at school I used to have this fantasy of opening up a bakery and just baking bread and maybe cakes and cookies from early in the morning till noon or something. I am a little busy working -- keeping up with grading homework and tracking attendance and planning and meetings (much less than the normal strains though). Recently I have been thinking about writing some short stories but so far haven't managed. I want to start journaling again. I am also planning a balcony garden. I need to order soil and maybe seeds or seedlings and pots from online sources, but I would like to try. I have a few herbs and some aloes and a bougainvillea that are all doing well. I would like some larger bushier plants for the end of my balcony as a kind of hedge for privacy! " (Istanbul, Turkey)

“Bird watching/ taking photos of birds.” (Brampton, ON)

“I see sour dough bread making in my future. Right now we are painting walls and doing minor repairs around the house.” (Calgary, Alberta)

“I have finally picked up embroidery again! It is a real treat to be able to work in it "guilt-free" (although it's not really guilt-free because working from home means I could literally be doing work 24/7. And even so, I would still probably not get everything done!)” (King City, ON)

“I started drawing portraits again after a long while.” (Istanbul, Turkey)

“I'm getting better at baking! I know this is the stereotypical quarantine activity but I finally learned how to make sourdough bread and I'm really proud of it. I've also been upping my yoga game by practicing almost every day. My crow pose is getting much better.” (Grismby, ON)

“I have picked up my crochet hook again, and after practising with some granny squares, I am now making a throw.” (Buckinghamshire, UK)

"I love playing the piano and I'm trying to learn Japanese on Duolingo! 😂🎌" (Toronto, ON)

For the past 3 weeks (other than school) I've been doing puzzles,  trying new ""editorial"" style makeup looks, watching youtube videos or wasting time on social media (tiktok, instagram, twitter). I also finally got batteries for my polaroid so I took some polaroids."

“I bought a Chinese Checker board.  My daughter and I play it often.  As I learned in Google it is neither Chinese or Checkers.  It is awesome.  I read and colour more than ever.  And I am looking at getting back to finishing a hooked rug, of a train of course.  I am not bored during this time.” (MacDougall, ON)
